Proper Addresses

The Board of Supervisors has been asked by the fire company to make certain proper addresses are posted and visible from the street.

The Township has an ordinance in place for required addresses. The proper address number the Township uses are based on the distance from the beginning of the road to where your home sits long the road. That number usually ends in a 5 or 0. We do not use lot numbers for addresses. Anyone using lot numbers as an address is in violation of ordinance 94-1.

If you are not using the proper address, please contact the Township Office to get your correct address as soon as possible.   This will help all emergency services reach you in your time of need. We also asked everyone to make sure to check that all addresses are visible from the street.

If the building is not visible from the street,  or is set back from the street in such manner that the building number is not clearly visible from the opposite side of the street, the number shall be placed on a post, mailbox or similar structure adjustment to the driveway entrance. The numbers shall be placed so as to be a minimum of three (3) feet above the ground level and the numbers shall be at least three (3) inches in height.

The number shall be placed in a conspicuous place on or over each front door, on the front of the transom bar,  front transom or front show window, over or on either side of the entrance, the same number to be of paint, medal or enamel, and at least three (3) inches in height, the color of the numbers to be in contrast to the immediate background, and shall be so placed as to be in full view from the opposite side of the street.
